On the topic of hair, Black LGBTQIA+ people, my people, have struggled to find our place to safely explore our own expressions.
There are not many spaces for us to figure out how we want to present ourselves when it comes to hair. I strive to create something that honors Black tradition, such as Black haircare, and queer expression all in one. I wanted something that would help many Black and brown queer people feel validated in their presentation, as well as provide representation and inspiration in the process.
Barbershops and beauty salons have traditionally strayed away from displaying faces and styles like ours on posters for inspiration or even decor. Let this be the visual we never got.
